Three Skills for SEO Success:-
Every job and every niche has its own particular set of skills that
are necessary for success. An aptitude for or natural ability in one or
more is certainly a plus in your favor, but that leaves the rest to be
learnt. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is no different. There are
some things you just have you likely are intrinsically good at, but like
everything else in life, if you really want to be an good at something,
it takes continued practice. Even if stardom isn’t one of your goals,
if you’re going to be engaged in using SEO, you’re going to have to at
least have some knowledge of what it takes to be a winner. There are
many, many skills, but three will determine whether you rise or set in
the SEO galaxy.
- Writing skills – Let’s face it, if you can’t write
clear, compelling, concise, communicative, quality content, no amount of
SEO or even traffic for that matter is going to achieve your business
objectives. Content is king,
as they say, and if you can’t put enough decent sentences together to
create content readers will read, you probably should look elsewhere for
a job, or hire someone to do the writing for you. Harsh, perhaps?
But, true, nonetheless. Good SEO professionals know that it’s the
content that makes or breaks the campaign. Everything that is the world
of SEO revolves around words that engage your target audience. And it’s
not just keywords, anymore, but the whole package deal. Use those words
well, and you’ll shine like the sun and an audience will flock around
you like the Dipper around the North Star.
- Social Media Savvy – Something else we need to face is that social media
is here, and it’s not going away any time soon. All that writing you’re
doing has to find its intended audience. Most of those audiences are
*gasp* humans on social media sites. Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Google+,
YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest and StumbleUpon are essential platforms
you need to at least have a working knowledge of and some hands-on
experience with. Otherwise, all your hard work creating SEO content is
going to just sit there, hoping a reader comes along, just so much
cyberspace junk.
- Analytical Abilities – What good is it is you have a
huge audience reading all your killer King content that you are unsure
your audience even likes? One of the quieter, invisible,
behind-the-scenes aspects of SEO is knowing just how well you’re doing
with it. Is your blog flagging on Fridays? How about Facebook? Kicking
it at the beginning of the month, but stagnant since then? You need to
have some idea of how each platform is performing, which articles are
getting the most attention, which videos are just wasted time. Your
website’s pages can tell you a lot about your visitors and their
actions, too, but you’ve got to know where to go to get the information
from them. Learn the analytical tools offered by each of the platforms
and websites you are involved with. Then, learn how to make changes that
may improve your performance. Replace that dead weight video. Perk up
that blog with a new theme or template to improve readability. And for
Heaven’s sake, fix that Facebook problem before it freezes like that.
An ancient Chinese proverb says that the first question is the
beginning of all knowledge. the first thing you need to know is what you
need to know. After all, SEO stardom isn’t as difficult to obtain as it
might seem. You can learn everything you need from the comfort of your
own keyboard and then you can shine like the SEO star you were meant to
be.
